The A2 at Ospringe has been at capacity since the 1980’s. Air Pollution regularly exceeds international safe maximum levels, posing a risk to the health and quality of life of residents and children at local schools. Plans for a bypass connecting the Western Link Road to the M2 either via a new junction or the existing junction 6 (Ashford Road) have been brought foreword several times but to no avail. With development south of the A2, now could be our last chance to secure the much needed bypass. KCC’s Conservative cabinet member for planning, highways, transportation and waste says “There’s no policy to enable such a scheme to be brought forward” We think 4 decades of congestion and poor air quality is too long- action needs to be taken now!
